For Private and DVA entitled persons
Hunter Valley Private Hospital offers a Day Only Rehabilitation Program to those who have Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) health care entitlement and persons with appropriate health insurance, workers compensation or third party insurance authorisations.
Purpose
The aim of Hunter Valley Private Hospital's Day Only Rehabilitation Program is:
- To provide professional allied health treatment to community dwellers
- to provide continuity of care following an inpatient stay
- to educate and assist in the prevention of illness
- to enhance the health and well-being of patients
Admission Criteria
All patients must meet the admission criteria before being accepted into the rehabilitation unit. For admission the patient must:
- have a musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or neurological disorder
- be cognitively able to participate in the prescribed rehabilitation program
- be medically stable
The outpatient program is designed for patients who are medically stable and live at home, but require several rehabilitation therapies.
The therapies may be any combination of nursing, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and social work.
Each program session is of 5 hours duration, either a morning or afternoon session, and occurs twice weekly.
Patients need to be referred to one of our Rehabilitation Physicians or Geriatrician, whose details are located on this website under the Medical/Surgical Specialists heading.
